![]() ![]() That way, if I later remove the images that I've tagged from Picasa, I will still have one master photo of each person that is tagged in Picasa. Every time I tag a person for the first time in Picasa, I also do a snippet of that person's face and add that image to the People folder. For that reason, I keep a folder locally (and backed up, because this is worth a lot of money in terms of my time) called "People". Some advice for making all this face tagging sustainable in Picasa: There's no way I can keep every photo I describe in Picasa. Now for the other, non-ResourceSpace details. If any of your fields are set to read the Exiftool: Description, then the captions created in Picasa will also be available in ResourceSpace. I have my Picasa Names Persons field set to display, so I get a list of the names in the metadata that appears below my image. Now, when I upload these face-tagged photos into ResourceSpace, it extracts the names from the xmp data. (I'm keeping this separate from my normal "Names Persons" field until I do more testing.) I created the field as a global field, with the critical part being the Exiftool field: regionname. I instead created a new "Picasa Named Persons" field. But then I recalled that ResourceSpace handles exif data well, so I didn't need to do that. I first used Exiftool to export the data into a spreadsheet, so that I could copy that into a CSV uploader spreadsheet. I then wanted to get that face tagging information from Picasa into ResourceSpace. RegionName>PersonInImage works the way you expect, with "Region Name" as the column title and the names from each photo as a comma separated list inside a single cell in the column.)įor that reason, I decided to focus on the RegionName>PersonInImage and ignore the other field, but I'm just mentioning that the other field exists in case any of the other metadata enthusiasts out there need to know. It exports the names in each photo with tabs between them, thus making a mess of your CSV. If you use those tags to export the data to a CSV, for example, the RegionName>PersonDisplayName doesn't work well. If you use Exiftool to view the face names metadata, you'll see that it's in both exif tags RegionName>PersonDisplayName and RegionName>PersonInImage. (The names are actually stored in two fields, but I found that exporting the names from one of the fields was problematic. The trick with Picasa's face tagging with this XMP extensions is that if you open the file in Adobe Bridge or Photoshop, and look at the file info, you won't see the metadata field where the names are stored. And if you want more details on how Picasa face tagging works, this freeware software has a useful explanation. The face names are stored in the Microsoft XMP Namespace Photo Region Schema, which is an XMP extension. Be forewarned that there are grumblings on message boards about corrupted backups, so don't put all your proverbial eggs in this basket also make sure your hard drive where Picasa stores data locally is being backed up.) The first backup takes a while, but subsequent backups using that same backup set are faster. ![]() Name your backup set something useful in Box 1, then choose "Select All" in box 2, then select "Backup". In the Picasa Library view, use Tools>Backup Pictures. (After doing that, this is a good opportunity to backup your Picasa data. You *must* use the "Write Faces to XMP" method to embed the names in the photo metadata. ![]() If you do not do this step, the names are only stored in the picasa.ini file that resides in each folder with the images. In the dialog box, I choose "Write Faces" or "Write All". Once I tag a group of photos, I use Tools>Experimental>Write Faces to XMP. I also use the caption field in Picasa to record captions for each photo. I want to identify as many people in the images as possible, and I'm taking advantage of Picasa to do face tagging. Our museum just had its re-opening after a major renovation, and this resulted in an avalanche of events photography. Secondly, this requires that you have Exiftool ( ) installed with ResourceSpace. (See the end for more details on Picasa face tagging, XMP, and other issues.) My first caveat is that this has only been tested with jpegs so far. I discuss technical issues (and workarounds), tools, and metadata. tl dr: I explain how I tag faces in Picasa and then extract that information in ResourceSpace. This is a long one, but I'm providing a lot of detail so others can try this out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Since the car belongs to Raj, he becomes a suspect in the eyes of Inspector Khurana, the investigating officer. An advantage of ADOH is that it lets managers visualize how much inventory they have relative to a day’s activity. Inventory turnover refers to the number of times that a company’s product inventory is sold and needs replacing, over a specific period. ADOH represents inventory as how many days a process could sustain activity by consuming its stored inventory. ![]() Indeed, if turns are calculated accurately using annualized averages of inventories, they can be “the one statistic that can’t lie.”Īlthough most companies measure inventory using inventory turns, the Building a Lean Fulfillment Stream workbook makes the point of using Average Days on Hand (ADOH) instead. Inventory turns are a great measure of a lean transformation if the focus is shifted from the absolute number of turns at each facility or in the entire value stream to the rate of increase in turns. By knowing the current and exact value of inventory days on hand, a business can reduce its ‘stockout days.’. This is because the cost of goods sold at the most downstream step doesn’t change but the amount of materials in inventories grows steadily as we add more and more facilities to our calculation. Inventory days on hand (also called ‘days of inventory on hand’) is a measure of how much time is needed for a business to exhaust a lot of inventory on average. Inventory turnover is the ratio of the cost of goods sold (COGS) to the average inventory value over a period of time. ![]() And if materials are included all the way back to their initial conversion-steel, glass, resins, etc.-turns often will fall to four or fewer. For example, a plant performing only assembly may have turns of 100 or more but when the parts plants supplying the assembly plant are added to the calculation, turns often will fall to 12 or fewer. However, in making comparisons remember that turns will decline with the length of the value stream, even if performance is equally “lean” all along the value stream. Inventory turns can be calculated for material flows through value streams of any length. Using an annual average of inventories rather than an end-of-the-year figure removes another source of variation-an artificial drop in inventories at the end of the year as managers try to show good numbers. Using the cost of goods rather than sales revenues removes one source of variation unrelated to the performance of the production system-fluctuations in selling prices due to market conditions. Thus: Inventory turns =Īverage value of inventories during the year Probably the most common method of calculating inventory turns is to use the annual cost of goods sold (before adding overhead for selling and administrative costs) as the numerator divided by the average inventories on hand during the year. The important issue is that any organization should be consistent in the formula that it uses.A measure of how quickly materials are moving through a facility or through an entire value stream, calculated by dividing some measure of cost of goods by the amount of inventory on hand. Inventory Turnover = Net Sales Average Inventory at Selling Price Inventory turnover is also known as inventory turns, merchandise turnover, stockturn, stock turns, turns, and stock turnover. The equation for inventory turnover equals the cost of goods sold divided by the average inventory. It is calculated to see if a business has an excessive inventory in comparison to its sales level. In accounting, the inventory turnover is a measure of the number of times inventory is sold or used in a time period such as a year. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The bottom edge of the Apple iPod Touch (7th generation) houses a built-in speaker, Lightning port, and, puzzlingly, a 3.5mm headphone jack. For the Zombies mode, Treyarch introduced several changes to the mode's core gameplay and the new "Dark Aether" storyline, which acts as a sequel to the "Aether" storyline that ran from 2008's World at War to 2018's Black Ops 4. Lives could have been saved if instead of living in a high-rise, Bateman had been supplied with a basement, a workbench and a lot of nails to pound.Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a 2020 first-person shooter video game developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision. It is with the thoroughness of a hobbyist. When Bateman kills, it is not with the zeal of a villain from a slasher movie. Christian Bale is heroic in the way he allows the character to leap joyfully into despicability there is no instinct for self-preservation here, and that is one mark of a good actor. ![]() It sees Bateman in a clear, sharp, satiric light, and it despises him. You see why Harron has called the film "feminist." So it is-and a libel against the many sane, calm and civilized men it does not describe. The movie gives shape and form to road rage, golf course rage, family abuse and some of the scarier behavior patterns of sports fans. All of the murders are equally real or unreal, and that isn't the point: The function of the murders is to make visible the frenzy of the territorial male when his will is frustrated. I have overheard debates about whether some of the murders are fantasies ("can a man really aim a chain saw that well?"). The film and the book are notorious because Bateman murders a lot of people in nasty ways. (Their faces aren't really identical, but they occupy empty space in much the same way.) One of the film's running jokes is that Bateman looks so much like one of his colleagues ( Jared Leto) that they are mistaken for each other. It is their uneasy secret that they make enough money to afford to look important, but are not very important. They carry on grim rivalries expressed in clothes, offices, salaries and being able to get good tables in important restaurants. Their sexual insecurity is manifested as card envy. There is a scene where a group of businessmen compare their business cards, discussing the wording, paper thickness, finish, embossing, engraving and typefaces, and they might as well be discussing their phalli. The film regards the male executive lifestyle with the devotion of a fetishist. Most of his victims are women, but in a pinch, a man will do. He is a narcissist driven by ego and fueled by greed. She senses the linkage between the time Bateman spends in the morning, lovingly applying male facial products, and the way he blasts away people who annoy him, anger him or simply have the misfortune to be within his field of view. Harron is less impressed by the vile Patrick Bateman than a man might have been, perhaps because as a woman who directs movies, she deals every day with guys who resemble Bateman in all but his body count. (To imagine this material in Stone's hands, recall the scene in Ken Russell's " The Music Lovers" where Tchaikovsky's head explodes during the "1812 Overture," then spin it out to feature length.) It was snatched up for Oliver Stone, who planned to star Leonardo DiCaprio, before ending up back in Harron's arms with Christian Bale in the lead. ![]() As a film project, it has gone through screenplays, directors and stars for years. Comparing RC24 with Universal Audio's Lexicon 224 plug-in, which runs Lexicon's original code, shows the NI/Softube emulation to be very similar in character, though the Lexicon 224 actually offers eight algorithms rather than just the three. ![]() In use, RC24 has a lovely vintage sound with a nice 'steamy' decay, which has been described by some, when talking about the Lexicon original, as having a 'cats hissing' character! It's a very musical and versatile reverb that can be coaxed into delivering anything from small rooms up to large halls with many useful settings between the two extremes. It is great on strings and vocals, though. The four different modulation modes introduce progressively more noticeable chorus-like movement within the reverb tail, and this effect is most noticeable on instruments such as piano, where you might choose to avoid using it. Reverb time is set using the Bass and Mid decay controls, while turning on the quantisation noise introduces some extremely subtle enharmonic noise components that would almost certainly be completely buried in a typical mix. As Depth is increased, the reverb tail dominates the sound, with the impression of the direct sound's contribution becoming more diminished. The Depth parameter changes the apparent listening position within the room, higher settings equating to being at the rear of the room. Clicking on Options provides input and output gain controls, the option to view or disable the real-time analysis display, and the option to include or omit quantisation noise. RC24 has fader controls for Pre-delay, Depth, Intensity (of modulation), Bass, Mid and Hi-cut, plus rotary controls selecting one of four modulation types and the bass/mid crossover frequency. Both models have a Wet/Mix switch and a Mix control that is greyed out when Wet is selected. Both plug-ins have very similar interfaces featuring six sliders, although the function of these differs slightly. It also incorporates some useful modulation options to mimic the Spin and Wander parameters that Lexicon developed to reduce metallic resonances and add complexity to their reverb tails. RC48 provides just two hall algorithms, Hall and Random Hall, with control over all the usual parameters, plus Diffusion and Spread controls. RC24 offers Large Hall, Small Hall and Room emulation programs, and models the old-school 12-bit converter sound of the original.
