![]() ![]() And in each channel you can run sorts of myhem of effects and plug-ins (VST). Imagine a sampler hooked up to each channel of a mixer with sends and buses and all that good stuff. In simplest terms, it started as a loop player with channel strips. It's a sequncer, not a tracking/midi production package like Logic. The closest thing to Abelton Live might be Acid. Watch this backfire on me and be told, "break the rules and do what sounds best dumn ass" Do they still make those?Ĭan we have a disscussion about this TapeOpers? He asked me to get some evidence to my thoughts. But it does not make sence if you have like $20,000.00 worth of hardware and software and all you use is Acid Pro and your end product is gonig to be your albumn. Stuff that does not need that big sound, just a wimpy internet sound, I can see that. Or if you are making music only for the web download, or a flash animation, or music for your website. Now, I do see the sole use of ONLY Acid if you were a DJ, or just working with samples of only 16 bit/44.1, where all you do is loop you ass off. I say, "those guys are like you too, and think that Acid Pro is all you need". ![]() I ask who? He says everyone on the "Acid Planet" web site. He claims that everyone is makeing complete projects with Acid. He enjoys the way Acid is cut and paste with a paint brush, rember Larry's article a few issues ago, "Paint by Numbers"? I beleive he is daunted with the use of a "real DAW", so he sticks with the ease of use of painting by numbers. ![]() I send it to him, and he cuts it and/or bastardize it to create more sounds to his collage of sound. What I usually do is record my guitar on my MX2424 or CoolEdit to create a mono track of guitar. "give me a stereo image of that, and I will upload it in my Cubase or whatever." He says, " just record onto Acid." I say, "this is not the way to do it". He sometimes creates a multi track session and keeps going and going with like 10 or more tracks of sound. He does not see the reason in transfering his Acid Data in this way and beleives that it can all be done in Acid. Acid Pro is a tool not a end all be all is my thought. Then you take those and upload them to your Cubase, SoundForge, ProTools or even a HardDisk recorder like the MX2424 and then add live instruments and the like to make the song. My thought is that Acid Pro is a creative tool that you use to create sound scapes, pads, ideas. He has never been in a band or has worked with others in a band nor has he been on stage. He has ideas and then he realizes them onto Acid Pro. He is not a musician and I guess I will call him a composer/producer. At my place we have the others, Cubase, PT, MX2424, etc., but he sticks with Acid Pro and that is it. At his place he has Soundforge 6, Vegas 4, along with Acid Pro 4. He soley uses Acid Pro as a writing tool. ![]()
